Lawson Craddock of Team Bontrager-Livestrong wins the final stage of the SRAM Tour of The Gila 2012.
The cyclist completed the final stage of the race in an impressive time of 4 hours, 27 minutes and 33 seconds to receive the honours.
He helped his side with an important victory during the final day of racing at the five-day race.
The young American overcame his compatriot Ian Boswell to occupy the top podium spot.
The duo finished at almost the same time but Lawson was declared the ultimate winner of the 170.1 kilometre race.
Chad Beyer of Competitive Cyclist Racing Team finished at the third spot with his team-mate Francisco Mancebo finishing at the fourth position.
Tyler Wren of Team Jamis-Sutter Home, Rubens Bertogliati of Team Type 1-Sanofi and Joe Dombrowski achieved the fifth, the sixth and the seventh positions in the respective order.
The cyclist was happy with the stage victory and appreciated his team efforts throughout the event.
Craddock cited, "We all worked great all weekend, and we capped it off with a win, it's just incredible, I'm speechless; this is a huge morale-booster for California”.
“We have something to prove there".
"I was hurting a little with about 20 km to go, so when Ian came up I took it easy”.
Joe Dombrowski helped the team with the Young Rider Jersey.
The cyclist is determined that the team’s superb performance at the Tour of Gila guarantees success for the upcoming Tour of California.
He cited, "I think a lot of people were casting doubt on our ability to ride in a race like California, but I think if you look at the field here and you look at the riders here, it proves we deserve an invite to a race like that”.
Rory Sutherland of Team UnitedHealthcare secured the top overall spot after the final general classifications.
Chad Beyer of Team Competitive Cyclist Racing Team and Joe Dombrowski of Bontrager-Livestrong Team achieved the third position.
Kristin Armstrong of Team Exergy Twenty12 wins the women’s category of the race.
She secured the top podium spot after the final general classifications with Carmen Small and Alison Powers finishing at the second and the third spots.
