Lawyer or Pastry chef?

Many people tell me i would be a great lawyer including my moms friend who is a lawyer butt i am love cooking and want to become a pastry chef but i am torn on the issue because i love the law (ahah that sounds pretty weird) i was just wondering what peoples opions are on this because i need to know what college to go to and what scholarships i should get into i just want opinions because i know life is a one time thing but i really cant decide and my family dont know either because they know i like the law and i am good at cooking (i also lovee it)

  2. I'm a lawyer and I like it. However, about 95% of the lawyers out there want to open restaurants - really. The hours are ungodly long and the stress level is pretty high. Most lawyers come out of school with massive amounts of debt. If you're considering law, get a job in a law firm and see what it's like from the inside. Don't go into it based on some illusion.

    I also hang out on a lot of foodie sites. Of all the careers in food service, pastry chef looks to have the best deal plus the course work is not as long. Go look at the CIA's website (Culinary Institute of America) and see what they offer. If you go, go to a good school (CIA, FCI, Johnson & Wales). Go look around on egullet.org. There's probably a thread or two in the forums about pastry chefs. Who knows, maybe you're the next Ace of Cakes (he went to CIA).

  3. Why not go to college and then after college decide on Law school or Pastry school?    Or go to Law school first and then go to Pastry school as a hobby.  There is no reason why you can't be an attorney who learns to make great pastry!
