Laxman likely to quit international cricket after Australia series - Cricket News Update
The veteran Test batsman of India, VVS Laxman is likely to bid farewell to international cricket following the ongoing shambolic tour of Australia, local media claimed on Sunday.

An Indian newspaper claimed on Sunday that the 37-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andhra-c764 Pradesh top-order batsman is under BCCI selectors’ scrutiny and would be axed by them if he did not retire.
"Laxman will retire at the end of the ongoing test series in Australia," a BCCI official told the newspaper on the condition of anonymity. "He is 37 and India's next test series is still at least six months away. Plus his form has dropped significantly and
his fitness, especially a troublesome back, is hampering him," he added further.
The report further claimed that the veteran of 133 Tests is unlikely to get another chance in the ongoing Australia tour as selectors are mulling over replacing him with a youngster to avoid a successive 4-0 whitewash abroad.
"We need to plan for the future after the poor show in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and now in Australia. Youngsters need to be given a long run now,” said another BCCI official.
"Laxman has been one of our finest batsmen but he has run out of time as he has failed to make it count against Australia, a team he has dominated at his best," he added further.
The final Test of the series begins at the Adelaide Oval on January 24.
