  1. Practice holding on to the boards or a counter top or something and holding a layback position.  Also, just practice gliding with your leg in that position on the ice.

  2. invest in a nice spinner, and practice practice practice!!

also, just stand in the position on the ground for awhile.

    it helps. =]

  3. Boards, Boards, Boards.

Practice off ice with your life!!!

Stand a foot to half a foot away from a wall. Then push you hips to the wall. They should be flat with the wall. Then take your free leg and extend it back.

Also, look at Sasha Cohens layback. It will help with the position.

On ice, in the spin: Take a revolution to get centered, but start getting your leg in to positon. Then lean out with your hips. Also, your arms should be above you BELLY BUTTON, not your head. That will help with balance.

As for how to "pop" into the position, it takes practice. Watch other people, and see how they sorta just pop right into the position.

  4. you have to do off ice streching and it hepls if you can do a spread eagle cause that would mean you have a good turnout which is good

  5. start in an open spin (spinning) and put your arms in the same position they are in when you bend back, for the leg just do the leg position behind ou upright turn your tow out and pull your knee to the ceiling or get your coach to help you on the wall and hold your leg so  you get used to the feeling of how it should feel when it's correct
