*-Layer Of Flower Petals For Aisle-How many petals are needed?*?

How many petals are needed for a moderately covered wedding aisle? I know it would depend on the length of the aisle, so lets say petals per square foot or something like that.

I have seen pictures of this done and I loooove it!

  1. I made my own centerpieces and that meant that I had the protective petals on my roses when I started. So I just had the people that made the centerpieces, put all the protective petals in a basket and I put those on the edge of the aisle. Looked great and cost me nothing!

I would say maybe 20 - 30 petals per square foot? But I just had petals down my runner on the edges. Not the whole thing.

  2. If you are talking real flower petals, keep in mind that for an indoor wedding, you would also need to have an aisle runner or something to protect the carpet/flooring from being stained by the flower petals.  There is also the danger of you or others in the wedding party tripping and falling by slipping on the petals just like a cartoon with a banana peel.

If you are using silk petals, never mind about stain, but I would still talk to someone who has done this before to inquire about whether or not it was harder to walk on.

If you decide to do it, measure the area you want to cover, and estimate--in other words, cover a small test area with petals (or scraps of paper that simulate the petals) and see how many it takes for 1 sf, then multiply x the sf you want to cover.

  3. Check this out with the church first.  Many churches will only allow silk petals because the real ones can damage the floors and carpets.  If okay, the florist should know how many you need according to the length of the aisle.

  4. Most places sell roses in a package with an average of approximately 2000 petals or about 35 cups of petals. Typically a pack of petals is enough to cover 20 square feet in light to medium coverage or 10 square feet in medium to heavy coverage.

  5. I love it too. :)  I don't really know how many petals it would take, but I would just as my florist.

  6. i had some but never really thought about how many..the lady that did my flowers just put a bunch in a bag and sent it to me.. I told my daughter to just sprinkle just enough so you have some for the rest.
