Layering distressed/destroyed jeans?

Question

How do you wear them so you have jeans underneath the holes? I've seen people wearing them like that. And (this sounds really stupid) because I get cold easily I thought it would be better to do it that way.

But surely it would be like wearing two pairs of jeans over each other, and feel really uncomfortable? Can anyone help.

im pretty sure they use a patch of denim under the hole but other than that, i dont think  its two pairs of denim.

OH, I get it now,

1)first of all get some jeans that are too badly ripped to repair

2) then get another old pair with a few holes in them.

3)get some denim material from the badly ripped pair of jeans, make ssure its enough to cover the holes and stitch the material UNDER the hole. (turn it inside out first!)

well what i do is wear some leggings with some intresting design under my torn up jeans :)
