Laying Turf , is sand and Soil ok to use together?

Hey

I am laying a lawn in my back yard, i have dug up and there seems to be sand at the bottom, so i have turned over the sand, and added a 2"-"4" layer of topsoil with some standard compost on top.

Do you think the turf will be ok growing through this? or will it struggle?

yes.  it should drain well.

Taht should be fine although i would add some turf starting fertilizer before laying the lawn.  Goodluck
