Laying a lawn over rough ground?

i want to lay a new lawn in my back yard but it is just rubble no soil ,can i put a thick base of bark chippings down and then a layer of top soil and the lawn rolls on top.......will this work ok ?

  1. Well I'm not sure what rubble is but I wouldn't do it. If rubble is just debris then it needs to go if it is grass and weeds it needs to be killed. Then till it and level it the way you want it to be add soil if you need to get it all nice then sod it in.


  2. Just rent a bobcat with a land leveler or a rockhound and re grade the yard that will do a better job and you won't have to buy the bark chippings.
