  1. You should use wood clamps to hold the boards close together, then nail them down. You can buy them at any DIY store. Remember to only nail on the edge of the boards and use floorboard nails. If you use any other nails the boards will squeak after a while.

  2. you should have left it at normal room temperature for a few days,i take it youre on about laminate. if so it also might not have been milled right, get some sandpaper and rub over the tongue bit,do the same on the groove bit and this should cure it.

  3. you need to knock each piece in as it's being laid. Some of the cheaper flooring is hard to lay.

  4. Leaving a gap between wood floor panels is generally encouraged to allow Chuck Norris pick them up with ease and use them as a weapon

  5. It's natural for gaps to be at the edges as wood expand to fill, this prevents splitting and warping

  6. Maybe and just a silly maybe it need to be mopped to expand to fit?

  7. check the edges of the timber are not damaged . you may have to use a cramp or off cut too knock them together tightly

  8. It depends exactly what kind of flooring you have. Almost all of it is some sort of tongue and groove system, so one side should have something that sticks out (tongue), the other a slit for the tongue to fit into (groove). Very often one must knock the two pieces together with a rubber mallet to get them to fit. There is also a fold and click system that works in similar way, but is diffewrent. Call the manufacturer listed on the box and they will direct you to installation instructions, or they may be available on the manufacturers website.

  9. We got wood floors put in this week. We had to leave the boards in the house to get it to the same temp as the house. If there's a big gap inbetween each one, something isnt right. If they are hitting them to make them fit tight, hey're not hitting it hard enough. If theres a slight gap inbetween a few of them, thats okay, they have some kind of wood paste to fill it in and then sand it out before staining and polishing.
