Layover in Paris?

I have a 9 hour layover during in Paris and was wondering if i would have time to go see and/or go to the top of the Eiffel Tower and get back in time to fly out internationally.

If so, what would be the fastest way to get there?

  1. It might be possible but there can be substantial delays due to long lines to get to the top. So maybe you mght skip trying to actually go up the tower.

It takes some time to go thru security to exit the airport (figure an hour) and 45 minutes or so to get into the city and the same back. The fastest way might be a taxis but that's expensive (50+ euros). The RER B (the commuter rail) runs from CDG right into the center of the city.

Since you should arrive back at the airport with three hours to spare before your departure that still ought to leave you a couple of hours in Paris.

  2. Given the way that the pairs airport is layed out I doubt it! You have to take buses from one terminal from another. It took us 4 hours just to get through security and to our terminal. If you want to miss your flight, then go for it.

  3. There's some great answers here.

However, if you're going to be 9 hours in Paris a wash and a shower, plus a possible 2-3 hours sleep might be useful, and then devote the other 5-6 hours to sightseeing. 90 mins each way is a good benchmark [ although you can likely do it in less] . Don't forget you need check in time at the airport.

My advise is to use the expensive alternative of a taxi to save time researching when you get there - but be careful of traffic jams.

So firstly, check out the hotel deals at the airports - i din't know if you were using Paris Charles De Gaulle or Orly, so here's both:

    Charles De Gaulle:http://www.cheaperthanhotels.com/France/...

    Orly:http://www.cheaperthanhotels.com/France/...

    French Version:

    Gaulle:http://www.hotelsenfrancais.com/France/P...

    Orly:http://www.hotelsenfrancais.com/France/P...

    Orly

Then I'd suggest you look at your options in Paris to visit. The Paisians have an official tourism site which will help you decide this, and I've given you a link via Tourism Rankings:

    Paris:http://www.tourismrankings.com/France/St...

In terms of transport links into Paris, you have several choices, which are shown on the above website and this site:

    Hope this helps
