have you ever played with a lazer with your cat? my boyfriend found a little mouse shapped lazer which is cute, and the cat loves it.. but do you ever feel bad that theres nothing for him to catch? like when we play with other toys with him, like something on a string, we'll make him chase it a little while, so he gets some exersice and stuff, but eventually we let him catch it, so he can chew it or whatever. What do you think?

  1. No, it's not bad at all.  They love chasing that pointer around.  It definitely gives them exercise and keeps them entertained.  My friends' cat loves that thing.  I know lots of people that use it.  So don't feel bad.  You're not using it all the time, you still play with other stuff with him.  You're still spending time with your cat, so you're not doing anything bad.

  2. Lasers are a hoot. Try running it along the carpet then turn it off right before you get to the chair. The cat might run under the chair looking for it. Or if you turn it off right before you get to the cat, they think they're sitting on it.

  3. Yes, they are bad as it's very frustrating for a cat to be teased with a prey it can never catch.  Here's an article about them - http://www.littlebigcat.com/index.php?ac...

  4. i dont think it is bad, your giving kitty exercise and spending time with him.  good for you!  :)

  5. This is a great exercise for your cat!  All of mine love it, including my puppy.  Don't feel bad that they are not actually catching anything.  They are simpler creatures with shorter attention spans so this is the perfect activity.  It entertains you, you cat, and they get some exercise out of it.  So enjoy!!

  6. The challenge you provide with the laser is stimulating for the cats brain and also provides exercise. You'll be able to tell if your cat tires of the game.

  7. my cats love it.

its cute watching them play with it.

yeah i feel bad but i dont use it for a long period of time.

ill usually give them a hug and tell them how good they are. (:

i dont know. haha. thats what i do.

  8. I know what you mean - I used to feel bad when my dog played with it for that reason.  He'd get frantic and try to dig up the linoleum... :)  The cats seem to be fine with it and really love it.  Too bad I can't play with them b/c as soon as I bring out the laser, the dog goes nuts!

  9. Just be careful if you have a dog also "especially working breed dogs" as they can develop an OCD and obsessively look for it and any reflection.
