Romain Hamouma has been waiting patiently for the Rhone club to make its move. However, financial worries of the club have left the player in limbo as he seeks meetings with other interested clubs
While Paris Saint-Germain are set to sign their fifth and sixth player of this summer’s transfer window, their bitter rivals, Olympique de Marseille’s Mercato has not really taken off.
Time is not the friend of the cash-strapped club. Though Le Provence claims that the club will become active in the transfer market soon, it is clear that the club needs to sell a few players first before signing new ones.
Departures will be the first order of the day and Les Phoceens are yet to let go of players who were expected to command a good price in the market.
Loic Remy, who was subject to a reported 25-million-euro bid by Tottenham in the January transfer window this year, is still at the Velodrome and might not be signed by the London club at all following the sacking of Harry Redknapp.
Yesterday, it was reported that Alou Diarra had not reported for preseason training at Crans Montana, Switzerland. The France international is loitering around in New York and it appears that he will be allowed to leave the club.
Though the club’s management has not indicated its desire to let go of the midfielder, Diarra is one of the top earners at the club and Labrune would indeed consider selling him. However, no club has approached Marseille yet.
Same is the case with Stephane M’Bia who has expressed his desire to leave the Velodrome but is still short of suitors. Though an unnamed club in Russia is interested in his services, no concrete offer has been made.
Cesar Azpilicueta might be the one to leave first after reports linked him with a move to Chelsea FC. With Newcastle United on the verge of completing a move for Mathieu Debuchy from Lille, the Spaniard will be the London club’s most likely target.
However, all this wait has simply worn out Romain Hamouma. The Caen midfielder was eager to complete his long-awaited move to Marseille but so far, nothing has been done. And, the player is getting tired of it.
A source close to the player claims that Hamouma is now considering other options as he wants to start preseason training with his new club.
“He is tired of waiting,” said the source.
Also attracting interest from AS Saint-Etienne, Romain Hamouma will consider making a move to Les Verts if the Marseille leaders keep on procrastinating.
