The Rossoneri boss laments his team’s poor performance at Stadio Olimpico Rome, but vows to give Juventus a tight finish for the Scudetto
A.C Milan manager, Massimiliano Allegri, has admitted that his team deserved to lose to Lazio, as they played ‘terrible football.’
The Champions suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Edy Reja’s men at Stadio Olimpico Rome on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tommaso-Rocchi-c35374 scored a goal each to collect all three points for their team. A win could have
put Milan on top of the table, as Juventus’s game of the matchday was abandoned due to heavy snow in Parma.
Allegri insists that their defeat will not clear the path for Juventus to win the title, as he has faith in his team that they will bounce back strongly. The Rossoneri boss hailed Lazio’s performances but he believes that his team
were not up to their usual standards.
The former Cagliari boss is taking positives from the defeat, and insists that there is still a long way to go before the season ends, and the mistakes will help them grow in the future. The tactician believes that despite winning
the recent matches, his team has not performed to their standards of late.
While talking to the reporters, Allegri said,
“We played a terrible game against a team that did not allow us much, but this is not giving the all-clear to Juventus. The campaign is still long and there will be time to discuss these things. I believe the defeat can do us good
and help us to grow. Lately, despite winning, we haven’t had the same grit that we need to win the Scudetto. This is why I believe the defeat can be healthy.”
Milan were denied a chance of taking the lead, as the referee’s assistant over-ruled a penalty decision against Andre Dias for handling offence. Allegri believes that the assistant got it wrong as he thought El-Shaarawy has handled
the ball.
“I believe he said it was El Shaarawy’s handling offence and not the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 defender. He changed the referee’s mind, as the penalty had originally been given."
The Champions remain one point behind leaders, Juventus, albeit having played an extra game.
