Italian club SS Lazio, are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Bayern Munich’s out of favour left-back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-Contento-c11113.
The Roman side is currently on third place in the Serie A table and are seriously mounting a Scudetto assault this campaign, and manager Edoardo Reja considers the Munich man a good addition to his squad.
Lazio have been keen in signing Contento for a long time and they have already contacted the Reds coach Louis van Gaal about the possibility of bringing the left-back to the Italian capital. But the Dutchman is reluctant to let go off his defender and has
rejected the transfer bid.
Claudio Lotto, Lazio Chairman has consulted with the club’s finance department and believes that an offer of around 4 million Euros may be enough to lure the defender away from the German capital.
Last season, Contento saw a lot of first team opportunities and filled in well for the injured http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Holger-Badstuber-c16281. The former German youth international had a very good last season for the Bavarians and impressed many European clubs. Diego started his professional
career with Bayern Munich II in 2008 and after a spell of 2 great years, won a stint in the senior version of the club; Bayern Munich.
Although he is yet to win a senior cap for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904, Contento has represented Germany at the Under-21 level but due to toe injury failed to enter the ground. He has also represented the nation at the under-17 and under-20 levels.
This season, Contento has been rarely used by Louis van Gaal and has played only 8 matches for the reigning Bundesliga champions. Clearly frustrated at the lack of first team prospects, the young defender is keen to make a switch before the end of the current
transfer window. Diego’s contract at the club runs till the summer of 2013 and the youngster himself is keen for a trans-nation switch in order to get more first team opportunities.
It is believed that a sizeable offer from Lazio may force Louis van Gaal to allow the player to move on. The Dutchman considers the youngster a hot prospect for the future of Bayern Munich and is still trying to keep him at the Allianz Arena, but if an agreement
is reached between the two parties; Aquile officials and Contento’s agent, a move may yet be on the cards.
Contento is not the only Bavarian linked with a Roman switch. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Miroslav-Klose-c26049 was linked with a switch to Lazio earlier this month. However, Lazio recalled the player from his loan stint thus ruling out a move for Klose.
