Lazio manager Edy Reja blasts Zarate and has advised him to get mature: Serie A news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 manager, Edy Reja, has blasted striker, Mauro Zarate, for his ill-disciplined attitude and has urged him to grow-up.
Zarate has been linked with a move away from the club for the past few months and the striker fuelled his exit rumours by refusing to play in the club’s UEFA Europa League game against Rabotnicki last week.
Playing in the game would have made him cup bound and could have restricted his move to a smaller club only. Reja confirmed that this is not for the first time the striker has breached the disciplinary code of the club and he has
done it several times in the past too.
The 65-year-old added that the Argentinean has abundant talent but he needs to mature a bit if he wants to make use of it properly. He further added that the striker is expecting his first child in the near future and that can
help him mature as a person. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 manager has left the doors open for the striker to change himself and demanded consistency from his side.
“He’s set to become a father soon and perhaps it will give him a greater sense of responsibility. He can mature and improve so much, above all in his attitude, but it depends on him. I leave the doors open. He has quality, but
has got to grow in terms of mentality and consistency, both in a match situation and in training. Sometimes he wants to work, other times he doesn’t.”
The manager also criticized him for gaining 5kg’s of extra weight during the summers and believes that it is not acceptable at any cost.
“Maurito turned up to pre-season training at least 5kg overweight and I cannot fail to take that into account. I am tired of covering up for everyone and I am the only one getting criticised.”
Reja added that he has spent 50 years in the game and knows how to control to squad and he cannot let anyone surpass the rules.
