Lazio midfielder Matuzalem will stay at the club despite Genoa interest, confirms the agent
The agent of Lazio midfielder, Matuzalem, has confirmed that he will stay at the Stadio Olimpico Rome despite reports linking him with Genoa.
Reports in the media have constantly linked him with a move to Stadio Luigi Ferraris but the Brazilian wants to remain with Biancazzurri. The agent has confirmed that the 31-year-old has not held any talks with the Marassi club
but he is unaware whether the two clubs have spoken about it.
The agent admitted that talks of his move were circulating in the media last season as well but there was nothing concrete in the speculation.
Talking to the reporters Matuzalem said, “I heard these rumours last year too. I don’t know if the two clubs have spoken about it, but we certainly haven’t been contacted by Genoa. Lazio know that the player has no intention of
leaving.”
The agent, Umberto Fusco, confirmed that his client is happy at Rome despite lack of first team opportunities in the past two seasons. The midfielder is confident that he will work hard to win back his place in the team. Despite,
the fact that Edy Reja has signed new players in the summer transfer window, the former Parma man is not bogged down by the situation.
“There are no particular problems, there will be space for everyone given the club’s involvement in Serie A, the Europa League and the Coppa Italia.” the agent said
