QPR striker, Djibril Cisse, has revealed the reasons behind his unsettling time at Stadio Olimpico Rome.
Cisse recently signed for Premier League side, Queens Park Rangers, for approximately 5 million Euros from Lazio. The striker had joined the Serie A side in the summer, but could not adjust to conditions in Rome, and managed to score only five goals in 27 appearances this season.
The Frenchman believes that he was played out of position at the Biancazzurri, which is why he struggled to find goals. The striker insisted that he favours the centre forward role but he was deployed on either flanks during his stay at the club.
While talking to the reporters, Cisse said,
"At http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 I was not able to be myself. I didn't play in my natural role. I was always on the right or the left wing. I became sad."
The striker is looking to shine with his new club, QPR, and insists that he wants to help his club finish the season in the upper echelons of the league table. He is confident that his performances with his new club will help him find a place in the national team for the upcoming Euro 2012. The former Olympique Marseille star has set himself a target of 10-12 league goals with the Hoops.
"I'm going to QPR to help them climb the table and also earn a place in the national team for Euro 2012. If I'm fit and well, I can scored 10 to 12 goals." Added the French international
Lazio offloaded the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Keisuke-Honda-c20516 from CSKA Moscow. The Biancocelesti failed to sign the Japanese international, and are left with only two experienced strikers for the reminder of the season.
Cisse scored on his debut for the Hoops recently. The striker has previously represented Liverpool and Sunderland in the Premier League.
The 30-year-old has scored nine goals in 41 appearances for the French national team.
