Lazio striker Mauro Zarate’s agent denies Atletico Madrid link: Serie A news
The agent of Lazio striker, Mauro Zarate, has rejected talks linking his client with a move to La Liga outfit, Atletico Madrid.
Reports in the media suggested that the agent, Beppe Bozzo, was in talks with the Spanish club but the agent has denied claims and admitted that the talks were not related to his client.
Zarate has been linked with a move away from the club for some time now and Italian sides, Genoa and Cagliari have also been constantly linked with him. However, the player’s agent has confirmed that the Argentine international
is not in the transfer market and will remain at Stadio Olimpico Rome. Bozzo also revealed that the Biancazzurri rate him at €20m-€25m, so it would be difficult that he can be sold at this price.
Talking to the reporters Zarate said, “Firstly, when I went to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 for a meeting with Atletico, our discussions were not about Mauro but other things. Secondly, the Argentine is not on the transfer market and he’s not asked his
club to be sold this summer.”
“For reference, I always ask how much clubs want for my clients and Lazio value him at an important €20m-€25m. It’ll be hard to sell at that price, even if you never know what could happen in football.”
Zarate joined http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Goran-Pandev-c15161 formed one of the most threatening strike partnerships in the Italian league. After the
departure of Pandev to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan, Zarate could not replicate his debut season form. The 24-year-old had a disappointing 2010/11 campaign and managed to score only 9 goals in 36 appearances all season.
His poor form cost his side a UEFA Champions League place for the 2011/12 season and they finished fifth in the Serie A table. Edy Reja’s men will feature in UEFA Europa League in the upcoming season and the club have already signed
a handful of player’s to bolster their chances of improving on last season’s finish.
