We all have to go to school to learn to drive....we have to pass the tests and show enought knowledge to be able to go on the roads...so why there are drivers who don't botter to use the indicators at the roudabouts?? Today there were four cars turning right but none of then used the indicators so we have to be there sitting and waiting until they decide to turn somewhere.....this is one example of the bad behaviour and the worse is when a car try to cross the road right in front of your car! It is so annoying!

  1. you want to have a go driveing a 44 tonne lorry when someone dont use there indercaters it really ps me off . when i was comeing up to a roundabout the other day a car driver done the same to me didnt indercate and i ended up trying to stop and ended up half way on the roundabout because i thought he was turningo off and the other thing is when they are on the motorways and they just pull  in front of you with out useing any indication then slowing down its hard trying to drive something which is hard to stop quick

  2. Taxi drivers are the worst offenders. Bus drivers are also a nightmare, they forget to turn off their indicators, so you end up following them ,expecting them to turn into every stop along the way!!! I think that most folk who have been driving for years, should have a compulsory re-test possibly every five years. I bet most of us would fail, as we have all picked up "lazy" driving habits!!!

  3. A new national survey reveals that 57% of American drivers admit they don’t use their turn signal when changing lanes, but what is most startling are the excuses drivers gave.

According to Response Insurance, a national car insurer, 42% of those drivers say they don’t have enough time, 23% admit they are just plain “lazy,” 17% don’t signal because when they do, they forget to turn it off, 12% admit they are changing lanes too frequently to bother, 11% say it is not important, 8% say they don’t signal because other drivers don’t, and perhaps most disturbing 7% say forgoing the signal “adds excitement to driving.”

The Company identified several driver-types when it comes to ignoring turn signals – Impulsive, Lazy, Forgetful, Swervers, Ostriches, Followers, and the Dare Devils.

  4. It is annoying when drivers don't use their indicators.  Many people are just inconsiderate when driving.  Even worse than not using indicators at all, is when someone is actually indicating left to turn into the road where you're waiting to pull out.  You go to pull out and they don't turn left at all, but go straight on!

Last weekend, we were waiting at a roundabout and indicating  to turn right.  A car was approaching from our right, so my husband waited.  The idiot behind us actually hooted and made a rude gesture because he had to wait behind us!  There was no way we could have pulled out safely without causing an accident.  We wondered how many other drivers he tried to intimidate on his journey!

  5. First, I wanted to say that I really enjoy reading something that a British person has written.  I like all the differences in our terminology.  I'm not sure what a roundabout is, but I think it's an odd intersection (I believe that was called a junction by a person answering) where several streets meet -- not just a four-way, but multiple . . . ?

Obviously, from my comment above, I do not live near you.  I actually live in the South in the US.  Our Southern people are supposed to be known for being the most courteous and friendly sort of people.  That is not true when it comes to using indicators (we call them turn signals or blinkers).  I can't begin to tell you how many times per day that I am inconvenienced or put in harm's way from a person not using their signals.  I guess it probably is from being lazy, but I have noticed a connection.  When I am able to see one of these people not using their signals afterward, about 75% of them are talking on their cell phones!!!  There is a push in our state to make it illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving unless you are using a hands-free device such as a blue-tooth.

I think the #1 reason is that they simply do not care and are discourteous, I'm sorry to say.

  6. Those people are lazy selfish idiots.

  7. It annoys me as well, twice in two days I have followed cars who didn't use their indicators at junctions! Are we supposed to be mind readers all of a sudden! I have also noticed a lot of car drivers forget to indicate when there are pedestrians about, I could have been run over at junctions loads of times through lack of consideration of other road users. It doesn't matter weather some one is walking, in a car, or on a push bike please use your indicators!!

  8. I think drivers who have been driving for a while get complacent.  They don't bother to signal because they just can't be bothered to move their finger to do it...maybe they're busy with other things like coffee or makeup or....

    It's frustrating.

Though I did see a man shaving his head while driving a few weeks ago...had to laugh...what an idiot!!

My view is that I cannot be responsible for the other drivers, all I can do is be responsible myself:  follow the rules, allow others ample notice of my intentions (turning especially) and mind the front end of my car...if everyone took care of just that much, we would all be so much safer.

  9. i'm a lorry driver i see these things all day long,

it's not that they are lazy more just not thinking at all,

i'm not perfect  but always make effort to show my intentions

and acknowlwedge if i've made a mistake
