Question:

Lazy eye blues! Will college be worst than High school?

I have a lazy eye that's very noticeable. Having this problem has made me very antisocial. People can be cruel especially in high school. There wasn't a day gone by in HS that someone didn't bring it to my attention that i was different. This fall I'm starting college and living in the dorms. My mom keeps telling me its college and people are mature but the same immature people go to college don't they? Having this has really tainted my life! I'm ready to give up! Do you think it will be better?

  1. Hey, Jelly, don't sweat it - it will be better!  Every step you take up the educational ladder people will be more accepting - that just naturally comes with gaining an education.

Plus, there will be soooo many people that you can choose to disassociate yourself from the pinheads  :)  They don't usually stay in college long anyway.

  2. in college people are too busy studying and reading big books and doing home work.  so i doubt people will have time to look twice at you especially your room mate

  3. its true, u go to school with real adults, college ppl dont care who u r, what u wear, or how u look. trust me. they're too busy studying, and partying to even notice. high school ppl are too imature.

  4. It will be better. People focus more on parties, meeting new people, school clubs, working part-time, studying and the like.

At least the true college kids don't have time for bullshit like that.

you should join clubs in your major and be active.  just don't let something like that ruin your college experience.

  5. yes

  6. I'm starting college in fall too.  There are so many different kinds of people in college.  No one will have time to look at your eye.  It's much easier to make friends in college than in high school.

I barely had friends in HS, but I did a program in the summer for my college, and I made more friends there than in HS.

Don't worry about a thing.  Someone will see past your physicality and see that you're probably a cool person.

    Good luck!!!!!!!!!

  7. It will definitely be better, especially as the years go by. College is some of the most fun years in your life! And people are much more mature and open. They will care less about your eye and more about you. When people get to college they become much more open minded and realize they have responsibility and are no longer in their comfort zone. People are trying new things and living as free adults. College is a whole different world. People change. You'll love it, make life long friendships and everyone gets along as long as there is mutual respect. Although there will always be some type of drama somewhere. Have fun in college and really get involved, in campus life, dorm socializing, sports, hobbies, parties, whatever you are interested in. You'll probably stop caring about your eye too! Remember it doesn't define you and people will start looking for the personality traits that do. Have confidence and be yourself.

  8. Be strong people can be cruel.  Life's not easy, if it was it would be boring as h**l. Don't let idiots determine your self worth trust me don't ever give up.

  9. a lot of people will be better, but im sure there will always be a few who are immature. they just point it out to you because they are insecure. you need to have enough confidence to not take their comments to heart. real beauty is on the inside. let it shine through your personality and ppl will overlook your lazy eye. good luck!

  10. it will be better if youll be better. get some confidence. every one has a shady angle. dont let them put you down and they wont do it.

  11. High school is all over! High School kids can be cruel! But people in college seems to be more mature and realistic! Don't worry about it!

  12. Don't ever give up!!! Granted, a******s are everywhere, and it would be untrue to say you're not ever going to hear it again BUT it only gets better.

There will be so many  new faces that won't care about your lazy eye. College is so much fun, and you will gain not only knowledge, but life experiences that you couldn't get anywhere else. So forget about the dipsticks, and make this a positive change for yourself. You will meet life long friends that will outweigh all the idiots. So don't ever give up

  13. I am not just trying to make this answer short or not a good answer, but your mother is right. Moms always know best if you think about. No matter how much you would like to say ''NO'' to your mom because you think she is wrong most of the time your wrong and she is right. And think about it. Colleges are so big that everybody has there ups and downs and chances are there will be kids there with a worse problem than you have and are alot more nervous. GOOD LUCK =)

  14. Wear a patch over the lazy eye.

  15. i think it will get better. do you try joking around about it? i have a friend with a lazy eye who is always cracking jokes about it and he has lots of friends. he may have been insecure, but he didn't show it and i think that's a huge help when making friends in college- having self confidence will draw people to you. hope all goes well.

  16. College will be so much better! In college people don't judge you on your appearance.  Kids in high school are so superficial, all they care about is looks and if you are popular. You will be happier in college! Trust me, everyone is more mature!

  17. The bright side for you is you are a lot smarter than the ones who were cruel to you,I don't like people who do this mess!!!good luck to you ,I like you already!!!

  18. well im sorry to say this but there will always be mean people that will say stuff no matter where you go. But in college since there is more adults (people who act like adults) they will be more mature about it and not say anything.

  19. Honey, although I wish I could promise you 100% that things will be better, I can't.

However, I can tell you that you WILL meet more mature people- but there will be those people who walk around wanting to bring you down.  Thing is: with college, you're rarely in the same spot twice!  (Schedules change, you're more free to do as you please, etc.)  I don't think you should worry about it too much hun.

(:  Good luck to us both!  (I begin my 2nd semester in college this fall)

  20. It will be better in college. Go out and have fun, meet people and don't hold yourself up the first few weeks of school. Have a great time!

  21. no

  22. I always liked university better.

The people that are there want to be there, so you get a better class of students, I think.

    Don't anticipate trouble.

  23. College is, in all ways, High school plus beer. So, dont expect people to be less noticing of it...but doubt you will have the problem of people being cruel. People in college dont have enough time between classes to judge you...theve either got another class to go to, or a big party to get to. And you should feel just fine at a college party, cuz people will drink a lot, they wont care about your lazy eye, and everything will be fine. Start practicing chugging water in a big glass as fast as you can, and this skill will make you very popular in college, lazy eye or not.

  24. Oh, college is definitely better than high school in this case.

  25. people in college are more mature. high school is torture.

  26. its could be better or worse btu just make new friends and don't let immature ignorant people bring you down.
