Lcd vs plasma image burn?

how long would an image have to be displayed on both plasma and lcd for it to be burnt into the screen?

i want to buy a new tv for gaming basically... and i was thinking a sony bravio 37-42inch (somewhere around that size) any suggestions or answers???

  1. Now the lastest generation of Plasma is rare to get burn-in...however it is possible.  LCD is nearly impossible.  The exact time-frame is unknown to me...however most TV has some kind of burn-in protection mode.  You shouldn't worry that much anymore.

    Even PS3 has a burn-in protection for the TV, you have to turn it on though.


  2. LCD would take at least 72 hours, Plasma, for PERMANENT burn-in, would take at least 48. Most new Plasmas fix burn-in very easily with the features they have.
