Can any1 explain the diff. colored jerseys the riders get at the end of a stage?

  1. Yellow - Overall winner, best total time in the 21 day tour.

    Red Polka Dot - Best climber  (Gotten by winning points on the hills.   First few riders over the hills get points)

    Green - Best sprinter - wins most points on sprint portions of the stages (flat, designated sprint areas)

    White - Best young rider.   Best overall time for those under age 25.

    There is no jersey awarded to a stage winner.


  2. The overall winner in the general classification wins the Yellow jersey. This is the rider who finished the race in the least amount of time.

    The Green jersey is given to the top sprinter. He acculmulates points in 2 ways.

    1.. There are points given to the first 3 riders to cross designated points along the stage.

    2 ..The first 25 riders to cross the finish line are given points on a decreasing scale. 1st place get 35 pts ..25th place gets 1 point.

    Rider with most points at end of Tour wins the Green jersey.

    Polka-dot jersey goes to the King of the Mountains.  Riders accumulate point by being first over the mountain climbs.

    On the easier climbs during the stage, the first 3 over the summit of the climb win points. On the harder climbs the first 10 over receive points.  If a stage ends on a climb the points are doubled.

    The White jersey is given to the rider under the age of 25 with the best accumulative time for the race.

  3. Yellow for the overal leader(in time)

    Pink Poka Dot-Mountains leader(you get points for going over a mountain first

    Green-Spritners jersey(same as Poka Dot exept for flat areas

    White-for the best young rider(in time)

    Yellow Bib-Team with the least amount of time(first three riders in each stage count as time

    Red Bib-Combatitive Rider(Rider who shows determination in a stage
