Le Vent D'Antan eying success in Champion Bumper
Le Vent D'Antan seems pretty confident about his chances in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham in England on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. He doesn’t have much experience, but possesses the ability to become one of the best in the business.
The French challenger debuted in January this year and impressed one and all with his impressive performance. He didn’t allow his rivals to challenge him and secured a comfortable victory at the end of the day.
He entered the contest with a starting price of 7 to 4 and no other runner had been given better odds than him. The punters had immense confidence in his abilities and gambled a lot of money in his favour.
Although rain had left the ground heavy, Le Vent D'Antan didn’t panic at all and kept his cool. He was under some pressure at the start of the race, as he got held up at the back. However, he made up some places afterwards and gained lead in a very short
time. From that point onwards, no one managed to come anywhere closer to him and he finished on top by six lengths.
Martaline’s son would have gained a lot of confidence because of this performance, but he needs to prove himself at the highest level against the best in the business. He has just raced once and doesn’t need to be carried away, especially when he is against
some better challengers.
His trainer, Miss Elizabeth Doyle, stated, “We plan to school him after racing at Leopardstown on Sunday week and all going well we'll head to Cheltenham with a live chance. He's had only one run and he's just a four year-old so it's important we get another
racecourse experience into him.”
She went onto say, “Every piece of work he has done since day one has been absolutely exceptional and every bit as good as the work done by Cheltenian or Al Ferof. He has such a lovely temperament and takes everything in his stride. Mikey will keep the ride
I'd say. I think Golantilla is our biggest danger.”
