  1. Not far from Pompidou (a few blocks to the west) is "Les Halles", a big underground shopping centre.

If you leave Pompidou, take the street between the museum and the fountain with the colorful shapes. Take it in the direction opposite to the near car street (around there they're almost all pedestrian streets). You should see a park. That's the entry to the shopping centre.

  2. Yes, it is in "le quartier des Halles".

This huge shopping center (not the best one though in Paris) is called "Les Halles" it is in the direct neighborhood of the Centre Pompidou. It is half underground though and has direct metro access . Metro station "Les Halles" !!!! What a surprise!

  3. It's in Paris. That's not a big town so if you climb Montparnasse you will be able to see it. Big ugly structure with it's insides on the outside.

  4. I cant remember either and Ive been 3 times....amazing isnt it!!! Have a good trip!!!

  5. I live 5 mins walk from Centre Pompidou. Centre Pompidou, or 'Beaubourg' as it is known, is in the 4th arrondisement next to the 'Marais'. The Marais is one of the nicest parts of Paris full of very old buildings, narrow streets and interesting shops.

The shopping centre you are probably thinking of is the complex at 'Les Halles' which is mostly underground. The whole area in between the Centre Pompidou and Les Halles is pedestrianized. Its only about 5 mins walking to get from one to the other. You just walk along rue Rambuteau which links the two.

Nearest Metro stop to Centre Pompidou is 'Rambuteau' and nearest to Les Halles is either Les Halles or Etienne Marcel. Since there are no direct lines between Centre Pompidou and Les Halles you are better off walking.
