LeBron, Wade and Bosh meet to discuss future

Though Dwyane Wade tried to deny a free agent summit would take place, the summit has indeed taken place over the weekend with LeBron James and Chris Bosh present.

The three superstars met in Miami to discuss their futures and where they would end up playing. One place they could conceivably all play is with Wade’s Miami who have about $44million in cap space. That means the Heat can re-sign Wade and sign another max-free agent but wouldn’t be able to sign a third max-contract free agent unless they are able trade Michael Beasley to a team with salary cap space so they don’t have to take salary back.

Though there have been reports James and Bosh have agreed to join Wade in Miami, it has become clear that is not the case and James has yet to give Cleveland word that he won’t be returning next year.

In fact, James will meet with several teams once the free agency window opens at 12.01a.m ET on Thursday. And reports have suggested Lebron and Wade will be in New York on Friday for recruiting visits with the Knicks and New Jersey Nets, although those meetings are set to take place separately.

Sources with knowledge of the meeting have said the three players believe any contractual difficulties could be worked out although it was not immediately clear if that meant they would be willing to take slight pay cuts.

One more problem the three could face is Bosh’s reported insistence on a sign-and-trade from the Raptors. For Toronto that’s the ideal scenario if they lose their star player, and for Bosh it would also guarantee him an extra $30million if he were to leave via that route.

Whatever happens on Thursday, one thing is for sure, no-one is going to sign for a new team until July 8 – the day the league wide moratorium is lifted.
