LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Carmelo Anthony to feature in weekend's NBA lockout meeting
Negotiations relating to NBA deadlock are going on for long but still an understanding has not been reached. In the latest of such meeting, the three giants of NBA LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Carmelo Anthony have decided to come
forward and play their part in ending this dispute. The trio will be representing players union in the upcoming meeting this weekend.
It’s a positive move and hopefully will add some meaning to the meaningless meetings that have been going on for a lifetime. While other players have seemed complacent to contemplate on overseas opportunity and some are playing
pickup games, LeBron James and company have elected to give it one last shot.
Fair-deal is what all players want and all of them seem to be united in the cause. Most of them have made this clear via their messages on social networking sites and twitter.
Labor meeting are usually dull with men in suits discussing the ways to distribute money. Presence of LeBron, Dwayne and Carmelo in the meeting will add liveliness in the room and some new ideas might surface in that atmosphere.
The presence of NBA super stars in the room will also help in reminding the owners what they are going to miss if the season is cancelled. We all remember what a crucial part Michael Jordan and Patrick Ewing played in ending the 1998-99 NBA lockout.
Players this time are blessed with a guileful president Derek Fisher. He is in NBA since more than a decade and has a vast knowledge of how NBA works. And yes the best thing is that he has every player’s backing too. So players’
union is pretty strong and now it’s up to them, how they make use of their strength and force NBA to change their decision.
With Fisher’s backing, LeBron and co can deal the NBA officials with arrogance and who knows NBA might give up? Bargaining skills would matter here and more than that, millions of fans will be following what their favorite players
say in the meeting
Players are the most important entity to fans and not the team officials or player union director etc. So every word that will come out of LeBron or Carmelo’s mouth would be worth gold.
Even if the weekend’s meeting fails to bring any positive outcome, it will still make fans think that players are interested in NBA more rather than going overseas and are at least trying their best to make sure NBA season starts
on time, just for the sake of fans .
A lot is being expected from this meeting and hopefully the presence of stars will make a difference.
