LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Rajon Rondo - Top 5 NBA Players from last season
In this feature, we will take a look on the top 5 players of the 2011-2012 NBA season. The list comprises of veterans, young talent and championship winning players. It was a tough job no doubt, as even Kobe Bryant who is one of
the most successful players to have graced the league in the last decade or so. It was also difficult ignoring Tony Parker but there can only be 5 best players;
1. LeBron James
People may argue about who is the best guard or best big in NBA, but ask anyone who is the best player in the basketball, and you have just one answer “LeBron the King James”. He is one of the best players of basketball on the
planet and won his third MVP award this season after scoring the third highest points and incredible rebound and assist figures.
It was his amazing plays that led Miami Heat to glory last season. He played a big part throughout the regular season but in the playoffs, especially in the Finals, he was just outstanding, winning the Finals MVP.
2. Kevin Durant
At just 24 years of age, this guy has already proven he is one of the best there is. He has three NBA scoring titles to his name already. Playing for Oklahoma City Thunder as small forward, he had an amazing last season, leading
the team to the NBA Finals.
KD was ruthless throughout last season and established a reputation as the best closer in the league, taking over the mantle from Kobe Bryant. He was the highest scorer in the NBA Finals, but up against the Miami Heat and LeBron
James, he just fell short. Despite being extremely talented, KD is also super fit. His fitness level can be judged from the fact that he did not miss a single game last season and with the time on his side, let’s hope he continues to please us with such consistent
outstanding performances.
3. Chris Paul
The value of the player is calculated on how much influence he brings to the team and importantly, how this does helps his team in winning matches. Chris Paul is no doubt the best point guard in the league with a clear edge over
his rivals, especially when it comes to winning.
His exploits helped Los Angeles Clippers improve a lot last season, propelling them to a 61 percent win record as compared to only 39 percent last year. Such a turnaround in only a year’s time clearly tells us about this guy’s
talent. He has been named in the NBA All-Star team for five consecutive years and his ability to close out games makes him one of the best in business in point guard role.
4. Dwight Howard
He is a big dominant guy who is undoubtedly the best of his generation. His rebounding averages are one of the highest in NBA and the scoring is also second to none among the bigs. All this combined with his athleticism and physical
strength makes him a nightmare for other team’s centres. He has a good jumping ability and 3 NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards in the last four seasons is a fair testament to the effort he puts on the D. Now that he has moved to Los Angeles Lakers he
may have chance to finally win a championship that he deserves.
5. Rajon Rondo
Rajon Rondo, the point guard for Boston Celtics, had an amazing last season, ending it with 24 consecutive games of more than 10 assists. Only Magic Johnson and Stockton have streaks longer than Rondo's. His passing ability and
court vision are second to none and although his shooting is not as great as compared to other point guards around, he more than makes up for it with his accurate passing and amazing assists average.
