LeBron James – Best performance from the 2010-11 regular season: NBA Special Report Part-1
Miami Heat superstar LeBron James brought the wrath of the whole NBA fraternity upon himself in the pre-season last year when he decided to ditch the Cleveland Cavaliers and took his talents to the South Beach.
Throughout the regular season, he was ridiculed, vilified and booed wherever he went except in Miami. However, despite all the hate, after few bumps along the way, James got his act together late in the season.
By the time, Heat entered the post season; James and the Heat were talking the same talk, breathing the same air and playing the same ball. All the kinks in the chemistry between him, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh had been removed
and the Heat looked set to get their hand adorned with the championship rings.
However, it all changed when they came across the brilliance of Dirk Nowitzki and the resurgent Dallas Mavericks. What happened in the NBA Finals, both to James and the Heat, has been narrated in detail and although fascinating,
to further shed light on one of the greatest NBA finals and also one of the biggest choking acts will be a repetition.
What we will be looking back at now is a game that somehow lost its significance in all the hype surrounding James and his negative publicity. It was a game in which, the best player in the league put in his best performance of
the season. It is needless to say that the performance turned out to be the best in the season as well. This is how it all happened.
With Stan Van Gundy, the Orlando Magic coach, Dwight Howard and the Orlando players being the most vocal critics of his move to the South Beach till that point, LeBron aka King James had sent the warning signals loud and clear
when he resolved to torch up the Orlando Magic, a night before coming into their backyard on February the 3rd, 2011.
"The simple fact that it's a division opponent, that means a lot," He had said. "Trying to win your division is very key. And also playing exceptionally well on the road is definitely key. That definitely helps later on in the
season. And being an Orlando team that basically said a lot of things about us in the offseason, that definitely adds a little bit to the fire."
At that time, there might not have been many people in Orlando who cared what LeBron James had to say about their franchise.
On the night though, the two times reigning MVP made sure that everybody stood up and took notice.
