LeBron James: The front runner for MVP - NBA Feature
The powerhouse LeBron James is a player with unmatched skills who never gives up. No matter Miami Heat are winning or losing James will always display his 100%. There is no doubt that he will be bestowed upon the MVP owner for
the 3rd time after this season.
Especially after settling scores with Kevin Durant.
Just after 14 days of 103-87 defeat at the hands of Oklahoma City Thunder, James and company were yearning for a payback. He got his shot and showed the world that he is still the best small forward. James was all out on offense
while keeping Durant on D and as a result King James collected 34 points, 10 assists and had 7 rebounds.
While Durant netted 30 but the night will be remembered as his career worst 9 turnovers, allowing Miami Heat to grab a 98-93 victory.
Since then there was no looking back for James he became the frontrunner for the MVP and kept on recording marvels on court.
Call it a blessing in disguise as this shortened season has sent most of the worthy MVP contenders to the bench. Derrick Rose the reigning MVP is on and off due to multiple injuries throughout the season and talisman Kobe Bryant
has been missing consecutive games due to shin injury while Linsanity( Jeremy Lin) has also succumbed to a season ending injury (torn meniscus in his left knee).
Clearly they lacked the agility and endurance which James possesses. Let’s admit it with players like Rose and Kobe playing throughout the regular season at their 100% the competition might have been tough but once they are out
of the race James has emerged as the strongest candidate in the final week of his 9th regular season.
Talking about the attributes for a MVP James carried Heat on his back in the last game against Toronto Raptors on Wednesday as the regular starters such as Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh witnessed the game in street clothes from the
bench.
King James went on to pound the Raptors, scoring 28 points in 30 minutes allowing his team to grab a 96-72 victory against the Atlantic Division worst team.
Fine one might say that he is bound to make an impact against such incoherent team then his performance against New Jersey Nets simply cannot be undermined. Heat entered the game without Wade as he was healing a sore ankle. This
time James did something that completely baffled his critiques who criticize him for crashing at the death under pressure.
It was LeBron who netted the last 17 points in the game to sneak pass Nets, 101-98. Isn’t that a testament enough for him being a reliable clutch shooting option, he had 37 points in the game.
He is averaging 27.1 points, 6.3 assists and 7.9 rebounds per game in this season stats perfectly in par with KD who is averaging 27.8 points, 7.9 boards and 3.5 assists per game.
It is said that a player has to be of a pivotal importance for the team and without him the team cannot survive. OKC has Russell Westbrook and Heat has the Big Three. So it would be unjust to draw a line on these grounds.
The thing that will make difference would be the public opinion. James has more fans and sceptics at the same time he is loved and loathed by equally same number of people.
Some might criticize him for playing in the 8th season without a ring and other would be praying for him to become the MVP for 3rd time. Similarly people object about his euphoric style and often regard him
as a person who refrains from the team first policy.
This is not fair, how many 26 year old has reached at the pinnacle of their career in such short interval. He earned it, wealth and fame so he had the right to have a certain swagger about it. Speaking about solo performer then
after his current performance this claim seems void.
He is a complete player and has the stature that is feared by the opponents. He has worked hard to reach a point where he can dream about becoming the 8th player in NBA history with 3 MVP titles. James wants the same.
“It would mean a lot, honestly, it would mean a lot,” James said of the award. “If I’m able to win it this year it would be very humbling knowing the calibre of guys who have won it three times.
The end of regular season is just around the bend and the day is not far when the people will opt for their beloved James as MVP.
