LeBron James admits there is no way of stopping Kevin Durant – NBA News
As the NBA Finals move into the critical juncture, there are few players are looking to cement their place in history and land glory for years to come. Kevin Durant is one such player who has made a habit of making crucial shots
at crucial moments in the game and has earned a reputation for being one of the best closers in the NBA.
KD showed his abilities in the series against the Dallas Mavericks this season and displayed how easily he can take over a game in the final period in the Western Conference Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. After an amazing
17 point final quarter in game 1 of the NBA Finals that won the game for the Oklahoma City Thunder, followed by another 16 point final period in the game 2 loss at the hands of the Miami Heat, even LeBron James has started believing in the amazing gift that
God has given to Durant.
During practice on Saturday before game 3, James was asked what the team strategy was with respect to Durant. He replied:
“Well, I mean, like you say, you can’t stop KD, you just don’t try to give him easy ones. You don’t want to give him an easy dunk in transition where you didn’t get back on defence, or you give him a transition D because you didn’t
communicate and gave up and things like that. He can make any shot the game has to offer, off the dribble, off the catch and shoot, off pindowns, he can make every shot. You just try to wear on him, but he’s going to make his shots and get his points because
of the type of player he is,” via Royce Young.
Both Durant and James are in a battle of being the first to a championship title. During Game 3 on Sunday night, it was LeBron who won the final quarter battle as Miami survived a late charge by the Thunder to secure a 91-85 victory
and take a 2-1 lead in the series.
Durant was amazing for the night, but the Heat did find a way of containing him and that was by landing him in foul trouble. Durant picked up his 4th personal foul with 6:50 remaining in the third period, and had to
sit out the rest of the period just as the Thunder were gaining momentum on offense. LeBron and company took full advantage to take control of the game in his absence.
However, Miami knows that Durant will not be in foul trouble every game of the series and will hit back with vengeance in game 4 on Tuesday night. If James words are to be believed, the Heat will be looking to do everything in
their control and leave the rest to fate.
