LeBron James and Chris Bosh scored 19 points apiece for Miami Heat to outplay the NBA Champs, beating them with a score line of 106-85 at American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida on Thursday night. Miami extended their home win
streak to 15.
There is a lot of bad blood between the Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks and some losses just leave a bad taste in your mouth. This game had a similar feel to it with both teams looking to take revenge for their particular reasons.
Miami were looking to avenge the finals loss last year and Dallas looking to get back for the demolishing loss Miami gave to them on the opening day this season.
The game started off with the German giant, Dirk Nowitzki getting an assist to his name. On the other end Chris Bosh came right back with a jump shot to level the score. The game went on with a similar pace throughout the first
quarter till the last 26.2 seconds, when Jason Terry hit from long range on an assist from Rodrigue Beaubois to end the quarter with a five point lead (29-24).
Vince Carter had 9 points to lead the Mavericks, Dirk Nowitzki also chipped in with 6 points in the first quarter. LeBron James had 8 points and Chris Bosh was not far behind with 7 points at the end of first period.
The second period started off at a similar pace. With both teams scoring at will, it looked as though it will be a closely contested affair. The score line till the latter stages of the half suggested the same when Miami only led
by 2 points (53-51) with 1:40 remaining till the half way stage.
Miami, behind LeBron James and Dwyane Wade`s leadership, put up an impressive performance in the second quarter outscoring the Mavericks by 12 points. Miami`s late run in the second quarter helped them edge out the Mavericks to end the half with a 7 point lead
(60-53-Half).
The third quarter was very closely contested with both teams struggling to out manoeuvre the defence in order to get a clear shot at the rim. Miami only scored 20 points in the third quarter while Dallas on the other hand scored
19 points.
The overall score projected a different story with Miami leading by 8 points, 80-72. LeBron James had 15 points where as Dirk Nowitzki was leading the Mavericks with 20 points to end the third period.
Dallas started the fourth quarter very well. They were working very hard to get back into the game. Mavericks behind Nowitzki`s 25 points even managed to cut the lead down to 7 points (90-83) with 4:37 remaining in the game.
Miami is known for losing games in the closing stages but it was not to be this time around. As they managed to close the game out with a spectacular run of 16 points as compared to Dallas Mavericks who only managed to score 2
points in the closing 4 minutes of the game. Miami outscored Dallas 26-13 in the fourth quarter.
LeBron James and Chris Bosh were on song as they put up 19 points apiece, Dwyane Wade had 16 points. Dirk Nowitzki fought well from the other side with 25 points, Lamar Odom had 12 points. Miami out rebounded the Mavericks 44-29.
