LeBron James believes trust between the Miami Heat players grew as the season progressed: NBA Update
Ever since the Miami Heat went down against the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals last season, many analysts have stressed that to win the holy grail of NBA; the South Beach franchise has to come up with something different.
Some people advocate that the Heat should have a stronger bench with reliable perimeter shooter while many (Heat haters mostly) have been going gaga to break up the big three trio of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
LeBron James however tends to think otherwise.
When asked in a recent interview about how things are going to be different for the Miami Heat from last summer; the player responded by saying the team had much more trust in each other now and they are bound to successful in the seasons to come.
James came to the Heat as a free agent from the Cleveland Cavaliers last summer. His arrival coincided with Dwyane Wade signing a new contract and Chris Bosh, another free agent, arriving from the Toronto Raptors.
The Heat instantly became a huge force on the NBA landscape with the three superstars on their roster. However, at first things did not go smoothly for them as they struggled to come to terms with each other’s play. The newly formed Miami side faced some stern opposition and fell on some hard times during the season, but ended with a strong push for the playoffs.
They did terrifically well in the NBA playoffs and went to the Finals. They did face defeat at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks and the awe-inspiring Dirk Nowitzki, but Miami did themselves proud in their first year together.
Now the NBA has released fixture list for next season and although the lockout means there are no guarantees the season would start on time, the players have to prepare for it nonetheless. Miami and James are certainly looking forward to the coming season.
LeBron believes he has a score to settle yet and can’t wait to get started. The player, when asked about how things changed from the start of last season to the end, said the team had much more trust and the learning curve was now over. James said it was only to be expected when joining a new team and believes the Heat will be all the better next season because of it.
“Just the trust factor. It’s always difficult playing for a new coach, learning his philosophies, him trying to learn you as a player… It’s the same with playing with new teammates – having a new coach. But it definitely grew from the first day of training camp till the last game that we lost in the NBA Finals.”
That loss was hard on the whole Miami Heat side, but LeBron James particularly came under some fire. The player is hard on himself and the critics did not take it easy on him either as a majority of pundits said he didn’t play to his potential when Miami needed it.
LeBron has mostly avoided questions about the subject but revealed in the interview that the first week after it did not go well,
“It was the worst week I ever had. I hate losing.”
For all those who love to hate James and the Heat – Watch Out, the King is rearing to go!!
