LeBron James carries Miami Heat to a clutch road win against the Charlotte Bobcats, 96-95 – NBA Recap
On Wednesday night, the Charlotte Bobcats took on the mighty Miami Heat, a team that has trailed just once in the first two games of the season and that too by only 2 points for 14 seconds.
As such, the Cats had their work cut out.
However, the team owned by the legendary Michael Jordan was not intimidated one bit. They started off with an 11-0 run then pounded the Heat throughout the first half, ending it with a 60-45 lead on a D.J. Augustin buzzer beater.
However after that, LeBron James took over. The small forward burst through the Bobcats and with Dwyane Wade nursing a bruised foot on the bench, he erupted with 12 points. In the same time, the Bobcats wilted under pressure and
gave away 12 turnovers, allowing the Heat to make a comeback. With 1:55 to go in the fourth quarter, James drilled a jumper to bring Miami at 69-70 and this was score at which the fourth quarter started.
The scores were tied at 74 early, but a Kemba Walker three followed by a turnaround jumps shot by Byron Mullens opened up a 5 point lead for the Bobcats. James sliced the lead with two free throws and Chris Bosh followed with two
consecutive two’s, the last of which was a dunk on a Wade dish. The Big Three retained control and Miami when James made a reverse jam with 2:11 to go, Heat were leading by 90-86.
The difference remained the same as the game entered into the last thirty seconds, but Gerald Henderson titled the balance with a layup and follow up three. Erik Spoelstra, the Heat coach, called a time out and when the teams returned,
Wade drilled a 10-footer over Henderson to give Miami a one point lead, 96-95.
With 2.9 seconds to go, the Bobcats still had an outside chance, but Augustin’s shot from distance was off the target and the Heat held on.
LeBron James led all the scorers with 35 and 7 assists while Chris Bosh had 25. The duo combined for 35 points in the up tempo second half. Wade struggled from the floor for 10 points and Mario Chalmers had 15. Augustine paced
the Bobcats with 21 points; Henderson chipped in with 20 while Boris Diaw ended the game with 16 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists.
