LeBron James has been quite so far in three Olympic games – NBA Update
Team USA have been so dominating in the first three games of the London Olympics that they haven’t required much of LeBron James. And the way, the Americans have been able to steam roll over their opponents, it isn’t likely that
they would need NBA’s reigning MVP to be the game winning player he is accustomed to being with the Miami Heat.
In their first game against France, USA made their way to an easy 15 point win but that was just a warm up of the more explosive things to come. The Americans came out with an even more strong performance in the second game against
Tunisia as they defeated them by 47 points only to follow it up with a record breaking victory of 83 points against Nigeria.
However in all three games, James has been fairly quiet and has not even crossed the double scoring figures in any of the matches.
If the numbers have been low so has been the amount of playing time James has been receiving. The playing time of the Miami Heat superstar has been getting lesser as each game has progressed. In the last game against the Nigerians,
he only played for 11 minutes and enjoyed most of the match as a gleeful spectator with Kobe Bryant.
In comparison to what LeBron was able to achieve in the gold medal run four years ago in Beijing, this is a stark contrast. James was able to average double figure points in every game last time. So far in the three games, LeBron
has averaged 6.6 points on a 60 % shooting from the field and has knocked down 2 of 5 three point attempts.
Interestingly enough though, he has failed to get to the free throw line, even once. However even in the very short time he has had, LeBron has produced some highlight plays.
A part of LeBron’s absence so far has been the astounding job his teammates have been doing, especially the second unit. Not even once, there has arrived a moment in this year’s tournament, that USA has desperately needed James
to control the game, and Mike Krzyzewski has been more than willing to give his ace player time on the bench.
However, when the crunch time comes, in the next rounds, rest assured that the King will be ready to take over.
