LeBron James plays like a man possessed as Miami Heat rout Boston Celtics in Game 6 – NBA Recap Part 2
Miami Heat kept going from strength to strength and looked even more dominant in the final period, in which LeBron James dropped 4 points while Dwyane Wade and company joined the party as well.
Wade made the first four points of the quarter and Shane Battier followed with a three pointer to give Miami a definitive 81-63 lead. With Miami leading 92-70 and 3:27 left in the game, victory was imminent and LeBron finally went
on the bench for the night, after having played for 45 minutes. Wade and Chris Bosh were also benched and Miami went on to win 98-79.
It was a night that belonged to LeBron James completely. He scored on 12 of his first 14 attempts and finished 19 of 26 from the field and 2 of 4 from beyond the arc. He had 15 rebounds and 5 assists to go with his mammoth 45 points.
Wade finished with 17 points and 8 rebounds, but was 6 of 17 from the field as he struggled in the 1st half.
Chris Bosh did not start the game yet again, but played 28 minutes and finished with 7 points and 6 rebounds in the second game since his comeback from a strained abdominal muscle injury. He had played only 14 minutes in the game
5 loss to the Celtics.
"In an environment like this, you want to have a big game. I wanted to be there for my teammates, no matter what was going on throughout the course of the game. This was a gut-check for us,” said James after the game.
Rajon Rondo tried to get the Celtics back in the game but his performance alone was not enough to counter what James was doing on the floor. He finished with 21 points and 10 assists, going 8 of 14 from the field. Paul Pierce had
a dismal game, going 4 of 18 from the field and 0 of 6 from the distance for 9 points. Kevin Garnett also managed a mere 12 points and 5 rebounds. Brandon Bass had 12 points and Ray Allen finished with 10 points for the night.
"Nothing's been easy up until this point. You know, you can't expect it now. It is what it is. We're going take these cards and play them, and we're going to fight. A bunch of fighters in this locker room,” said Kevin Garnett after
the  game.
Miami shot 48.7% from the field and were 7 of 16 from the distance. Boston, in comparison, were 42.7% from the field and only 1 of 14 from the distance. Miami also had a 44-34 rebounding advantage over the Celtics, owing to a poor
rebounding night for Garnett and good rebounding from Udonis Haslem, LeBron James and Chris Bosh.
Boston shot poorly from the field, particularly from beyond the arc on a night when they did not play with the energy and relentless effort that we have become accustomed to. The Celtics fans at the TD Garden came in the hopes
of celebrating yet another Eastern Conference crown for their team and city, but were instead displayed a mediocre effort from their team. Most of the arena had been emptied before the game finished. Now the Celtics will travel to Miami for yet another episode
in the LeBron James – Boston Celtics saga.
Miami are a much better team on their home court but the Celtics already have an away win in this series. The 7 game series is now a 1 game series with the winner going on to the NBA Finals and the loser going into the offseason
after being so close to basking in glory.
