LeBron James says he’s available for the 2012 London Olympics
After all of them skipped team USA’s campaign in this year’s World Basketball Championship, the 2008 Beijing Olympics gold medalists are starting to commit one by one for the 2012 London
Olympics.
After Kobe Bryant expressed his willingness to play for the national team on Tuesday 2 November, the two-time and reigning Most Valuable Player LeBron James has also signified his intention
of wearing the national colours again in the summer of 2012.
"I would love to be a part of that team," James said when asked about his long term plans. "If coach Mike Krzyzewski needs me to be a part of that team, I'm available. Hopefully I'm healthy
enough to be a part of that team. Coach K has my number."
The 25-year old forward opted to skip the world championship in Turkey this summer because of an expected busy schedule during the free-agency period, but his absence was hardly felt by the
American squad, who cruised to bag the gold medal, ending USA’s 16-year world title drought.
But on the other hand, James’ superstar teammates in Miami are not yet ready to make a commitment, and both of them believe that it is still too early to think about it.
"I'm just focused on right now, there's too much going on in my life right now to try to think about that," Bosh said. "Once the season is over and the summer comes we'll talk about it."
"It is a ways off, I've got a lot of other things to worry about that I deal with off the court," Wade said. "I'm not there to where I have to make a decision. I'm glad those guys said that
and they're going to play for our team. When the time comes it will be made but it will be a collective decision that I'll make with my family."
Besides James and Bryant, Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony and New Orleans point guard Chris Paul have already said that they are willing to play again for the USA Basketball Team,
while Orlando Magic centre Dwight Howard is also expected to make his own announcement.
