LeBron James sounds a warning; Says he is not done yet – NBA Update
Miami Heat super star LeBron James hit back at his critics recently, saying that those writing him off should wait until his career is over.
James has come under severe criticism after his below par effort in the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks but the forward is sure he will make amends in the future.
James was hailed as the new Michael Jordan upon arriving in the NBA straight out of high school. He was drafted first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers, fans of whom treated him as a hero. However after years of trying, it became
clear that James would not be able to win an NBA World Championship with the Cavs.
He therefore left the franchise in acrimonious circumstances last season, deciding to ply his trade instead with the Miami Heat. Fans and the media have turned on him since then and his no show at the Finals gave critics a new
opportunity to ridicule the “Chosen One”.
The player though still believes in himself and has suggested that by the time his career is over, he would have built up a significant legacy.
“With me, people talk as if I'm done. But I've got years left in my career to build, I guess, my individual legacy – if that's what they want to call it.” James said in an interview reported by USAToday.
His focus at the moment though is on his team. James joined up with former NBA Finals MVP Dwyane Wade and All-Star forward Chris Bosh in Miami and the trio, known as the Big Three, went on to record an impressive season together.
They fell short though against the Mavericks and James is determined to help his team go one better come next season.
“But, right now, it's all about building my team's legacy. How can we continue to get better and to approach the game in the right way during a championship playoff. One year in, we gave ourselves a chance and we're looking forward
to the next one. For me, I just want to give myself the best opportunity to win games.” He said.
The Heat faced adversity throughout the season because James came with a lot of critics and haters who didn’t approve of his move to South Beach. The situation was further worsened by Miami’s decision to have a celebration with
their Big Three before the season, a move that reeked of arrogance.
With a new coach and a team full of aging role players, Miami did the best they could last season. Now they are looking to add a little more youth and energy in order to complement the Big Three next season and hopefully win the
NBA World Championship.
