LeBron James sounds likes a person who always believed in Carmelo Anthony – NBA Update
Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James are not only two of the best small forwards in the league; they are also the best of friends.
Drafted a pick apart back in 2003, LeBron however has accomplished way more in his career and it was only last season when he finally landed his hands on the elusive and prestigious NBA championship trophy. He is also touted as
a far better all round player than Melo, and that has plenty to do with the intensity levels and the desire to succeed day in and day out.
Melo, on the other hand, had over the years developed a reputation of a one dimensional player, who could only dominate on the offense, and was not of much use as far as playmaking abilities were concerned.
However coming into this season, Carmelo has emerged as a changed man. He is no longer a selfish forward making improbable no look fancy shots and putting pressure on his teammates; he is now a willing distributor ready to play
for the team, rather than for his own personal glory. The result is that the Knicks are at the top of the Eastern Conference at present with an impressive 13-4 record.
According to James though, Melo has done nothing new. For him, the Knicks forward has always been a game changer and a winner;
“Everyone is acting like it’s a surprise why he’s doing what he’s doing. It’s not a surprise to me. He’s one of the best players in the world. Always has been,” said three-time MVP LeBron James. “Melo is a great player. Any time
you have a great player on your team, you have a great opportunity to win ball games.”
Carmelo’s defensive numbers may look the same this season, however he has been putting up extra effort and his intensity has pretty much rubbed off on all of his teammates. At present he is leading the Knicks with 26.4 points per
game, second only to Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Even his coach Mike Woodson believes that Melo has been an inspiration for the team;
“We’re all sitting here today, benefiting from Melo’s play, because he put in a lot of hard work this summer,”
