LeBron James opens up about the incredible Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals; Calls Boston Celtics the best coached team ever
Had LeBron James not take over the Game-6 of the Eastern Conference Finals, the NBA Finals would have seen the Boston Celtics (rather than Miami Heat) take on the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Trailing 3-2 in the series, King James re-iterated as to why he is best basketball player in the world with a 45 point, 15 rebounds and 5 assists performance. The result was a blowout win for the men from the South Beach and eventually
after James put in his fifth above 30 point – 10 rebounds performance in the year’s playoffs, in Game 7, Miami secured a berth in the NBA Finals for a second year running.
LeBron’s performance in Game 6 has not only exorcised his playoff ghosts, but it has also made the Heat ever so formidable and even though they are up against a powerful Thunder side in the Finals, LeBron’s presence makes Heat
the favourite.
On Monday, while talking to the reporters, James opened up about his Game 6 performance. However, just like he did in the press conference after winning the East, James did not forget to lavish praise on Doc Rivers and his gritty
Celtics;
"Game 6, I felt great. I felt great. Mentally it was draining," he said. "Physically it was draining, as well, but I felt great throughout that whole game. It's draining when you finally get into the locker room and you just you
guys always see me got my feet in the ice tub and my knees are wrapped.
"Then after Game 7, it was even more draining, just the emotions around that series, knowing the team we beat, I mean, it's probably one of the best coached teams that you can ever compete against. Doc Rivers keeps those guys prepared,
and they have four future Hall of Famers in Paul (Pierce), (Rajon) Rondo, KG (Kevin Garnett) and Ray (Allen). It's challenging going against those guys. So it was very draining not only Game 6 and Game 7, but series in general."
The Celtics – aged, injured, shorthanded and fatigued – overcame all odds and grinded their way into the Eastern Conference this year and were actually on the verge of knocking out Heat. However, the thought of yet another year
of bitter disappointment, woke up a sleeping giant in LeBron James and that proved to be a bit too much for the Greens.
However, the effort and resilience which the Celtics showcased, has earned them a special place and they will be remembered whenever a mention of 2012 playoffs comes.
