LeBron James teams up with the Boston Red Sox owners to spread the love of sports
It was recently announced in Cleveland that National Basketball Association star, LeBron James, has teamed up with the owners of the Boston Red Sox, John W. Henry and Tom Werner. The two, who form Fenway Sports Management, will be working with James and
his business partner, Maverick Carter of LRMR Marketing and Branding to create sponsorship ventures and global marketing projects.
The deal will also give James a minority share in English Premier League football club, Liverpool FC. The soccer team was acquired by the Fenway Sports Management group in October for $488 million. The deal is gaining mainstream attention and is tying in
two parties that are prominently dominating sports news coverage in the United States of America.
"We believe this will be a powerful collaboration between FSM and LRMR and LeBron. There are very few athletes who can match his global reach, appeal and iconic status. We are very excited that LeBron will be part of the Liverpool FC family. LeBron and Liverpool
each has a powerful presence internationally, with particular strength in Asia, but we feel the business opportunities for both working and being identified together in emerging international markets will result in unforeseen opportunities that neither would
have been able to realize alone."
James, who plays with the Miami Heat, was also available to comment on the partnership. He told the members of the press that he was thrilled to work with Tom Werner and John Henry. James told the reporters that these individuals have the same passion for
sports that he does. He made notice of their drive and commitment to their respective teams.
He concluded his statement to the press by saying that this was about being in business with a corporate group that loves sports as much as he does.
‘King’ James is 26 years old and he will be raising his revenue base with the deal. His share holding power in Liverpool FC will attract many fans to the English club and it can work in the favour of the Red Sox who are trying to promote the club in America
and beyond.
