LeBron James thanks NBA players for support during last season – Miami Heat News
LeBron James has spoken of his gratitude towards NBA players who supported him through the rough ride he embarked upon last season since joining the Miami Heat. The player revealed such in an interview and also said he was dealing
with all the criticism well.
LeBron caused a huge stir in the basketball world last summer with his decision to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers. A whole host of NBA teams were interested in acquiring the most coveted free agent in a long time and made many sacrifices
to get him to join their rosters.
In the end James, somewhat against the odds, chose to join the Miami Heat. Cleveland Cavaliers fans, and owner, were livid with LeBron’s perceived defection and the manner in which he handled the situation. Added to the ant-LeBron
brigade were droves of fans belonging to NBA franchises he had turned down in order to join the Miami Heat.
James made the decision to join the Heat because he thought it would give him the best chance at winning an NBA World Championship. Alongside Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, James formed the new Big Three in the league and expressed
his confidence of achieving great success with his new teammates.
However the larger NBA world did not take kindly to all of it and James faced unprecedented levels of hate and criticism throughout the following campaign. He officially became public enemy number one in the Finals and his failure
to perform on the biggest stage in front of the veteran Dallas Mavericks invited further ridicule for the player.
The whole season was spewed with negativity for LeBron but he did receive support from a number of NBA players who stood by James in his time of need. King James has now spoken of how helpful they were and of his gratitude to such
colleagues,
“It means a lot to be respected and have respect from your peers. When you go out on the basketball court, you want to have the respect of them. Some of the decisions you take, you love to hear the support from them as well. I’m
really thankful.”
However James remains a hated figure among NBA fans. If anything, the forward has lost more ground in terms of popularity as time went on. He is now one of the most despised figures in American sports landscape.
Commenting on the situation, LeBron says these matters are more or less out of his hand and he is just concentrating on what he can do,
“At the end of the day I can only try to be the best basketball player I can be, and be happy with that. My friends and family and the people who know me, they know the type of guy I am. For me, that’s the most important thing.”
