LeBron James wants a fourth Olympics Appearance – NBA News
LeBron James has only been back from the London Olympics a few weeks after winning gold medal, and is already dreaming of another Olympic appearance in 2016.
James spoke with the Associated Press recently and said that he would love to return to team U.S.A for the 2016 Olympic Games, which would be the fourth Olympic appearance for the reigning MVP of the NBA.
He did, however, add that he has not spoken to Jerry Colangelo, USA Basketball President, about the issue.
“We haven't had that conversation. But if I'm healthy, I did the math and I'll be 31, and if I have the opportunity to be out there, I will do it. I love it. I love being a part of it and representing my country. I don't know what
may happen in four years, but it would be great to be back out there again. Definitely,” said James.
James was the best overall player of the U.S team at the London Games where the team won gold, doing whatever his coach Mike Krzyzewski asked him and showing a level of maturity not seen in his game before.
His performance in the NBA Finals back in June, followed by his selfless play at the Olympics where he showed that he is much more than a scorer, has even his staunchest critics silent.
James has already appeared in three Olympics, winning bronze in the 2004 Olympics and gold in the nest two editions. He is now looking for his fourth appearance and spoke openly against NBA commissioner David Stern’s idea of sending
an under 23 team for the next edition of the Olympics.
James has had a remarkable year, his best in his basketball career. He was named the NBA MVP for the 2011-2012 season, his third MVP title of his career. He then went on to win his first NBA championship and was the Finals MVP.
And he has capped off an NBA season filled with achievement by adding an Olympic gold medal. Only Michael Jordan can speak of a year with so many accolades, when he won the regular season and Finals MVP, NBA title and Olympic gold
in 1992. For the 27 year old star, this is just the beginning as he looks to write his name in the history books.
"I want that feeling again," said James of winning his first title.
