LeBron James wishes all the best to the embattled Cleveland Cavaliers - NBA Special Report
LeBron aka King James definitely knows how to twist and turn. Be it in his game or in his utterances.
Just weeks after the infamous karma tweet that took the already scorned Cleveland by storm, James is back again with a retort regarding his former club. But unlike the last time, the Clevelanders in particular and the league in
general were in for a pleasant surprise.
On the eve of the third encounter with the Cleveland Cavaliers this season, the self proclaimed King projected some new found sympathy with his former franchise.
In an apparent move to win back the hearts of the very people who once loved him as their own, but now just love to hate him, James said that he sees no reason to savour Cleveland's momentous struggles this season. And it doesn't
give him a sense of vindication, either.
With James in their ranks, the Cleveland Cavaliers were one of the hot contenders for the Eastern Conference title last season. But, since losing to the Orlando Magic in the first round of play-off and the departure of James from
the franchise, the Cavs have filiated from being one of league’s elite to the status of being the league’s worst this time around.
James however maintained that Cleveland’s tailspin this season, does nothing to prove that he made the right choice in taking his talents to the South Beach. He only made his decision to fulfil his ambitions and gains no satisfaction
in seeing his former team, reeling fast towards the league losing streak record.
Before Monday night, the Cavaliers had lost 20th match on the trot, which is not only the franchise worst showing ever, but, it also made them the first team in the century to lost 20 straight. There only win in the
last two months has been an over-time squeak past the New York Knicks on December 18th, a feat that stands in the way of them losing 31 straight. To make the matters worse, the Cavs are fast approaching the franchise worst record for away game losses,
currently standing at 24.
However James decreed.
"It didn't matter for me if the Cavs were going to have a successful season or not," James said. "I felt like I was making the right choice for me as an individual and for my career. Like I said, I have nothing bad to say about
the players that I left and the team. I wish the organization the best. And I wish the fans, more than anything, the best because we had a lot of great years together."
The Cavs were suffering a wretched run of nearly the same magnitude when James entered into their fold seven years ago. And it didn’t take him long to revive their fortunes. In his seven year of service, James propelled the Cavs
from one of the lightweight teams in the league to the potential championship contenders. But, he was more often than not, the lone man fighting.
Cleveland reached the NBA finals once with James, but never hoisted the trophy. After being swept away in the playoff last season, the Akron prodigy decided to carry on his hunt for a Championship ring, the only thing that has
evaded him in his illustrious career, with the Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami.
The winning touch of the Cavs also departed with James. While James has been making hay all season in the company of Wade and Bosh, the Wine and the Gold’s campaign has gone awry. There injuries struck roster hasn’t helped them
either. Mo Williams, Anderson Varejao are some of James ex-team-mates who are either out of the season or hurt badly. In fact there injuries woes have been so pronounced that James is struggling to recognize most of the players.
"It's strange. ... They're going through a lot of struggles right now," James said.
