Question:

Lead testing?

My daughter just had her 9 month checkup and they took some blood to test for lead b/c of all the toy recalls and everything. We won't get the results back for a week, but I'm just curious that if it comes back positive for lead, what do we do from there? Obviously we'll be throwing out her toys that are also positive for lead, though I truly hope we haven't bought her any. But do they do anything to treat my daughter if she is positive for it? Or do they just let it leave her system on it's on? And what are all the side effects or possible outcomes of having lead in your system, especially at such a young age? I'm kind of getting really freaked out!

  1. take a breath and relax its a standard test usually done around a year.  second unless she has a very high level of lead there is little concern and the doctor will give you suggestions.  As a baby i was diagnosed with a very high level of lead and was treated in the hospital to remove the lead from my body, however i am fine.  anyway, most of the time children have no lead or very low levels which are not a problem.
