Leader of the h***s Angels 969-70 in Santa Clara, Ca.?

Question

I am trying to help my sister find her birth father by trying to track down a notorious motorcycle club leader the year she was born. I have looked on google and found that Ralph "Sonny" Barger (Oakland Chapter Founder) was the only leader besides Rocky Graves (San Francisco Chapter Founder).

Any names to check out would be great.

That should be enough to go on, but if not, I would suggest checking out the HA. website, which will probably be quite helpful. I have seen some OLD photos online. I can also think of one name-Filthy Phil.

Another idea would be to consider attending a rally which is open to the public and which is friendly to the club(i.e. which has this club as the main one attending, and perhaps even hosting it in some capacity.) I would suggest that your sister go along on such an expedition, bringing with her whatever memorabilia concerning her mother, etc. that she has. A good event to attend would be the annual races and rally in Laconia/Weirs Beach. I would avoid a  lot of others, especially out West and in the Deep South, as such events tend to be dominated by the Outlaws, Pagans, Bandidos and their ilk-all clubs which hold grudges against the H.A.s. Tread  carefully, and  good luck.

According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Barger was released from prison in 1992:

There isn't much documented about Graves, other than that he exists. I can't find his given name, so that makes checking official records almost impossible.

If you really want to get the full lowdown, file a specific Freedom of Information  Act request with the FBI  asking for the names of the h**l's Angels members from that era who were prosecuted. They have the information...and it is public record.
