  1. Are you looking for names or something? If you are, then here are a few:

Malcolm X, MLK Jr., Huey P. Newton, Bobby Seale, Elijah Muhammad, Louis Farrakhan, Rosa Parks, Yuri Kochiyama, W.E.B. DuBois, Marcus Garvey, Medgar Evers, Jesse Jackson, Stokely Carmichael, Robert F. Williams -- just to name a few.

You might want to clarify exactly what you're looking for.

  2. Well for legislation, the civil rights issue should have been done with the 14th amendment. Equal protection under the law pretty much covers it. Hate crime legislation is racist plain and simple. As for leaders of the movement, not for a few years. Jackson and Sharpton are the reconized faces these days and I hate those racist dirt bags.

The Jena 6 case is a good example of racism in this country. Some really crappy kids use racial intimidation to suppess blacks in thier community through terroristic threats. They should have been charged with misdomeanor meanacing or terroristic threats. OK so the prosecutors declined to press charges, kids blah blah blah. Then the Jena 6  (after a period of escalation on both sides) severely beat a kid. Mind you that in most states anything beyond two on one is considered deadly force even if it is just fists, but these were kids. So the prosecuter goes for a full drop the hammer move inorder to completely quench the rising violence among the kids.

I agree that attempted murder is a way harsh charge but why didn't the "Leaders", Sharpton and Jackson, demand they be charged with a lesser assault as a hate crime. It would have been fitting since they helped get the laws passed. As it is I think the appeals courts have it under control now. But true leadership is missing in this struggle. Are you going for equal right or Black power.
