When the leafs win the Stanley Cup it would be the happiest moment in Canadian History lol. So many older people who lived during the great depression and lived through the 60's and were happy for the leafs had probably died now. I hope they win the stanley cup before i die. Im 15

  1. If you look at the Leafs roster, they really aren't as bad of a team as their record shows. They just seem to have a problem in management and a problem with team chemistry. They have some solid forwards and defenders and their goalies have had some success elsewhere, just not yet in Toronto. I believe that the Leafs are closer to becoming a playoff team then many think. I hope that the organization does not start rebuilding from the ground up, but use the pieces they already have to build a contender. Toskala played well in San Jose, they need a coach to find out why he is struggling now and though Raycroft is no longer the rookie that lead the Bruins a few years ago, he too is a solid goalie who at the very least adds depth. The team needs to restructure, no question, but if they go out and get some solid core players such as Hossa and Campbell, you may see the team make the playoffs sooner then you think. I doubt they will win the cup while Sundin is still around, he is a great leader, but with other teams such as the Flyers, Penguins, and Canadiens who are stacked with young thriving talent, he just does not have enough time left in his career to see them win it all. I believe he should leave Toronto for Philadelphia, New York, or Detroit for a chance at the Cup before he retires and I expect that Toronto will cheer him on in that effort.  And yes, you WILL see a Stanley cup in Toronto before you die.

  2. I am a passionate 14-year old leafs fan and as another guy said, our team really isn't that bad; we're just mediocre.  After this rebuild, I think we can become a contender after about 3-5 years.  It would take a lot of bad luck for our team not to win one in the next 70 years.  So don't worry, and don't switch teams and be a bandwagon jumper, because I hate that kind of fan.  We're all loyal fans and the leafs will pay us back eventually.

*I'm aware that the Grey Cup is the CFL Championship and the Cubs are a baseball team that hasn't won the World Series since 1908

edit the Depression has yet to leave the hearts of Toronto hockey fans. Not seeing a Cup affects them all, be they 6 or 86, whether if Punjabi, Jamaican, Asian or Italian. i'm thinking TML will reverse the curse by winning the Pond Hockey championships on the Sun. (buttmann the 100th thought it was time to take nhl hockey off planet earth)

ps Has anyone noticed that TLM can stand for a hogtown resident shouting "Tabarnak .. i am tired of Losing to Montreal"

  10. The Leafs can only win the cup in years that end in 67.  So you've got about 59 years to go.  You should still be alive.
