League, Players' Association may talk on Tuesday -NHL Lockout Update
It might be a little quiet around the National Hockey League (NHL) and a little too quiet for most hockey experts, which probably means that both stakeholders are working towards bringing forth something that will really make a difference this time around.
The league and Players’ Association is set to meet on Tuesday, according to sources, but nothing can be conclusively said as of yet about the date and what the agenda will be between the two sides and whether the core issues will be discussed or not.
''Nothing firm. There is a potential for Tuesday,'' NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said in an email to The Associated Press.
It is reported that the league and Players’ Association have taken out the possibility of Monday to mutually and individually plan out what the agenda should be and it seems like that something important just might come out of the rumoured meeting.
The lockout is nearly a month in and no significant progress has been made as of yet. Up until now, fans have missed out on the entire preseason along with the opening two weeks of the 2012-2013 regular season. They are hoping that the two sides will be
able to work out something to save what remains along with the highly anticipated Winter Classic.
Last week was the last time both stakeholders were able to sit down, but that was short lived as they focused on the very minor issues, failing to tackle some of the crucial problems that have been forcing the two to stay at bay.
Many areas of the NHL are terming Tuesday to have been finalised, but until a schedule is officially released by either side or an agenda, nothing can be said in this regard to be considered concrete. Fans will just have to wait another day at the very least
to hear something about a confirmation being made by either side.
Updates and developments should be expected on Monday, on whether there really is a meeting planned for the following day or not. Hopefully, the regular season just might be saved, but this meeting along should not be expected to bear the solution.
