League Cup Goal Summary: Blackburn Rovers vs Leyton Orient
Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 played host to Leyton Orient in the Carling Cup at Ewood Park. Under normal circumstances, the game would have been tipped in Blackburn’s favour, but given the Premier League sides poor start to the season, no one was quite sure over who would come out on top at the end of the game.
After a thrilling encounter between the two sides, Blackburn managed to just squeeze a victory past Leyton, as they beat their opponents by three goals to two.
Both teams looked to be cancelling each other out during the first half, but just before the end of the first half, Forbes took out Olsson in the area and as a result, the referee had no decision but to award the home side with a penalty. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jason-Roberts-c17973 stepped up to take the spot kick and sent the ball into the back of the net, making no mistake from the spot.
In the 64th minute, Orient stunned Blackburn as they drew level in the game. Givet failed to mark Mooney and the forward raced away to create some space for himself. He then side footed an effort towards the Blackburn goal, which sailed right in, drawing the visitors level.
In the 71st minute, Blackburn restored their lead in the game. Rochina went on to race towards a pass from Roberts and  then rounded the keeper, before sliding the ball into the back of the net with ease.
In the 75th minute, Blackburn got a two goal advantage as Vukcevic smacked a bullet of a shot into the goal, after beating three Leyton players on his way towards the goal.
In the 86th minute Orient pulled a goal back, as Cox cut back towards the goal and curled a sublime shot into the goal.
With just one goal separating the sides, Orient tried to make the most of the game, but Blackburn managed to hold on for just enough time to see themselves through to the next round.
The line ups for the game were as follows:
Blackburn: Bunn, Lowe, Givet, Hanley, Olsson, Vukcevic, Petrovic, Grella, Rochina, Roberts, Blackman
