League Cup Goal Summary: Leeds United vs Manchester United
Manchester United went onto face Leeds United in their third round game in the Carling Cup. The match started off with United dominating the game and following three goals in the first half, the Red Devils decided to take the foot off the pedal in the remainder of the game as they cruised to victory and while ensuring their space in the next round of the tournament.
The first goal of the game came in just the 14th minute of the game. After losing a ball in the Leeds area, Diouf pushed himself to win the ball back and regain possession. He then played a pass to Berbatov, who flicked on a through ball to Park. Park then played a short pass to Owen, who evaded his marker brilliantly and then managed to bend in an effort just past the keeper and inside the near post.
In the 32nd minute, United went two up in the game. Macheda produced all sorts of problems for Leeds and then gave away a corner to United. The corner was played short and after some passing between the United players it was played to Diouf. The forward once again went on to play an incisive pass, which fell into the feet of Owen and the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international made no mistake, as he smacked the ball in the goal to score his and United’s second goal of the game.
In the stoppage time of the first half, Untied went on to score their third and final goal of the game. United won a corner from Leeds and once again decided to play it short. The ball was played by Giggs to Park, who passed back to the United veteran after receiving the ball.
